Stanley Harvey

Born: 09/07/1952

Stanley, son of Sinclair and Gertie, was born on 9 July 1952. Actually, he should not have been around because our mother's doctor advised strictly against her having another child after suffering serious heart valve damage. She was , however determined to go ahead and thank our Lord that she did. Our mother doted on Stan because she knew she would not be with him very long and 9 years and 15 days later she passed away. From virtually when Stan could walk he had a passion for hunting. Starting with elephant shrews and graduating through birds, hares, meerkats, small antelope right up to eland and kudu, which most of his friends know him for today. We were not at all very affluent and it was a constant battle to scratch up enough money to buy ammo but , somehow Stan found a way. A typical example of his ingenuity in this regard was the time our grandmother found a pair of old false teeth. Stan begged her for them. He took it to school next day and sold it to some gullible pal for 25 cents and then promptly went and bought 500 marksman pellets. If one looks at some of the family photos it will be obvious the he inherited this particular trait from our father. Stanley married Cathy McGeary on 22 November 1975, having 2 children: Gwyneth and Justin. Even though he is my brother, I can think of no one I have ever met with stronger principles and character than Stan. A testimony to this are his fine children and their incredible achievements. After working for 40 plus years for the NHLS and giving everything he could, we wish him a blessed and restful retirement.
