Cecil Victor Douglas Harvey
Born:
22/10/1884 |
Died:
January 1973
Douglas, who also later became deaf, lived with
Leo
and Stella all of his life. He farmed by buying and selling oxen on his portion of Mimosa Glen. The only time he ever went further than Brandfort from Bloemfontein was when Pierrie Venter took him for an overnight trip to Johannesburg and back. Douglas was a born storyteller and kept the children in awe with his stories, most of which were made up as he went along. He chewed tobacco and was an occasional drinker. Only around festive seasons or when he had done well at a cattle auction. There is a story that we won a motor car in a beer drinking competition in 1949 but he never learned to drive. He died in January 1973 .His land he left to Stella, widow of
Leo
.
